Community Buys New Ferry To Replace Holiday
The HIC Board, Management, and the Vessels and Transportation
Committee have been actively researching options for maintaining/replacing Holiday,
the Community's passenger ferry. On January 26th, the Community voted to
purchase Expeditions 3. Details of the search process and the status of
securing and preparing Expeditions 3 to service the Community are listed,
below, under Progress Reports.

Contest to Name the New Ferry
We realize that Holiday II is an obvious and logical choice; however some of
you had ideas for a new name that others might not have thought of. We also
realized that there are those of you who put stock in the maritime lore around
changing a vessel’s name, so Expedition(s)(3) is already on the list of
potential names.
Here is
the FINAL list of potential names that you submitted. We will not add any
more. This list will be published in the next View Point with a tear off return
mailer so that you can vote for your favorites. You will have until March 14th
to return your vote slip. We will take the top five of this go around and
then have a run off next month.
The winning name will be announced at the April 19th
Board meeting. The person who submits the winning name will have the honor of
re-christening her and receiving a year’s pass on the new ferry.
